Family Survival is a resilience hub for families spread across many parts of the United States. Its one job is to get clear, life-saving information to people fast.

How the guides are written

• Every figure has a source. Numbers in brackets link to the source list at the bottom of each guide, and the sources page lists all of them.
• Safety-critical numbers are defined once. Bleach doses, boil times, generator distances, and food-safety hours come from a single checked list, shown as critical fact boxes.
• Every section covers every region. Where a point is widely accepted practice rather than a figure from one source, it is marked General guidance.
• Content was checked against its sources on 2026-09-21. Guidance changes, so each guide shows the date it was last reviewed.

Privacy

There are no accounts, ads, analytics, or third-party scripts on these pages. The only cookie is your region choice, which holds a region name and nothing else. You can clear it on the regions page.
